Keys to organize the lighting of kitchen
Lighting is essential in the kitchen, and in all architecture and interior design project , the planning and organization of light is one of the epicenters in the design approach. Good lighting harmonizes the form and function in the kitchen to flow with the lifestyle of the people who inhabit it.
For this purpose, in kitchens that we designed in Coblonal Interiorismo , light becomes one of the articulating elements that organize space.
The lighting in the kitchen aims to reconcile functional requirements with aesthetics, comfort and efficiency. To achieve these objectives it is necessary to plan the lighting by zones, define the uses and choose the appropriate lamps, among other keys. Some keys that we have developed throughout our architecture and interior design projects and today we tell you so you can choose the lighting that best suits your kitchen and, therefore, your lifestyle.
Plan the general light
The general light must be uniform, constant and illuminate the different functional and use areas. A good option is to place spotlights or downlights distributed throughout the kitchen. Another option a little more risky and versatile is to opt for different spotlights arranged in a rail, thus being able to combine general and focused lighting. An example of this is the lighting that we chose at the time for the Azul Acocsa kitchen showroom where we distribute industrial-looking spotlights to provide clear lighting in different areas and focus attention on other areas. This principle, very common in commercial spaces, is a perfectly extrapolable resource for the kitchens of our homes. To have a greater radius of light we recommend that the spotlights have a focal aperture of a minimum of 60º.
Local points of light
In addition to a general light, it is also necessary to zonify the lighting and provide each zone with its own reinforcement light. Providing each area with its own light results in an increase in savings and comfort, since you will not have to turn on the general light if you only use one area. Thus, the work area, cooking, sink or handling must have its own lighting. You can opt for lights under the modules, which besides being functional, is a very aesthetic function.
In the project of interior design and decoration of a house in Bellaterra – bottom photo- We chose to orchestrate a series of local lights under the umbrella of general light. In this way, all the elements, from the island to the dining table, tell their own light. As a detail, the shelves of the kitchen module have a light that also adds an aesthetic dimension, enhancing colors and shapes.
Also the interior spaces deserve their own light, a good solution can be to light the pantry or the interior of the cabinets with halogen or led enstado.
Lamps, a strategic decision
The lamps are the icing on the cake and can be part of the general or local lighting and depending on the style, they can be an element that conjugates with the rest of materials and colors or, otherwise, provide an accent and contrast completely different to the stay. The lamps are like jewelry decoration and can result in a new look.
An option that we especially like in Coblonal Interiorismo are suspended lamps, which allow a wide variety of designs and placement. In addition, suspended lamps can also be with bars, highlight the roof material and provide a very nice overhead light for diners if they are located in the dining room table as in the interior design project we made for a huge floor of Nordic inspiration in Andorra where we located a set of hanging lamps by Tom Dixon.
We found a similar resource for the an interior design project in an apartment in Gracia that we made where the hanging lamps Aim by Flos stand over the dining island.
The planning of the light includes the use of natural light, and in our study we study the corresponding light inputs during the day and the location of the different artificial lighting options, with the aim of designing a space according to the needs and Habits of people who enjoy and live the house.
In short, interior design is based on planning and even more on lighting, since articulates function and space . Light is like another painting whose tone harmonizes with the rest of the elements and highlights both colors and volumes.
