Situation and briefing
Coblonal Interior Design Studio has renovated the ground floor of this duplex located in a privileged area of Sant Cugat. The young family that lives there asked us to rethink the ground floor of the house in order to make better use of the available space and gain spaciousness. The result is a large social area with a large hall, kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining room, multipurpose room that can be reconfigured through three sliding doors. Also two bathrooms and bedrooms in which the main one has a radically different access and dimension.
The open conception of the social area of the house —hall, living room, dining room, kitchen and multipurpose room— is resolved thanks to the inclusion of three sliding doors that disappear in the furniture when they are open. If we wish, we can close the kitchen or transform the multipurpose room, located behind the TV cabinet-shelf, into an office or a guest room.
The resulting large living area supports different configurations. The most common is the one that appears in the photographs, designed for the current use of the family that inhabits it. You can sit down to watch a movie or eat together at the large dining table.
If guests come, the space is large enough to reorient the sofa, armchair and chairs to share a pleasant after-dinner chat.
The master bedroom bathroom was originally not accessible from the bedroom, it was from the hallway. We modified the access and, in addition, we got a new very wide distribution. The sink and toilet area is followed by a large bathroom area, with a bathtub and two showers with independent mechanisms.
The style of this house is contemporary and balanced with a great prominence of natural wood in the furniture. The shades with raw white work as a base on which the shades of wood and earthy tones of textiles and accessories offer a restrained contrast. It is a timeless commitment designed to remain in force over the years and accompany this family in the coming years.
With the blinds raised, the green of the trees and vegetation of the terraces complete a very pleasant set where you can share time with the family.
